“Life is like a good black and white photograph, there’s black, there’s white, and lots of shades in between.” -Karl Heiner
We prefer to use black and white images to capture the more intimate moments. We live for the “shades in between”. Working in monochrome makes the focus on the subject more intense, and allows us to magnify the experience of the moment. Color may make pictures more vibrant, but at the same time it could draw attention away from the subject. The less colors there are, the easier it is to absorb an image, and the point of focus shines through.
Defining moments – like the first kiss, the groom’s expression as the bride walks down the aisle, the father’s last dance with his daughter – have a lot of drama that is best captured in black and white. To this day it still holds true that printed black and white photos last longer than colored prints. Wouldn’t you want to preserve those precious moments forever?
